Chattanooga Region SCCA Meeting
November 20, 2007

 
Minutes
:  Minutes from October 16, 2007 Chattanooga Region SCCA Meeting were approved.

Treasurer’s Report:  Treasurer’s Report prepared by Gail Perry was approved.

Committee Reports.

Track Trials:  Bill Perry provided the following information.  Rent will be negotiable for the track trials and road race.  Dates of May 17-18 for the Track Trials and July 28-29 are firm for the race.  Discussion was had whether to have a practice day prior to the Track Trials and most were against the practice day.  Scott Dobler moved and Jennifer Dobler seconded to have Bill pursue negotiations with Nashville and having Mark Rothemel (Alabama Region), David McDaniel, and Gerald Street included in the negotiations.  Motion passed.

Solo.  Event had 37 entries and was great fun.  Next event is Rudy’s Run on Dec. 1st in Dade County.  The event benefited Dade County High School with $10 of each entry fee going to the Art Department and $100 to the Sheriff’s Toy Drive fund. 

The Ho-Ho Solo Media Challenge at Chattanooga State on Dec. 9th will be the Toys for T.C. Thompson’s event.  We hope to have a huge crowd.

The Street Survival School is Dec. 15th.  There will be catered lunches for the workers and participants.  There are 12 instructors scheduled.  There will be a training day on Dec. 8th at 1pm at the Annex.  Patrick White will be the Chief Instructor and Ray Evett, the Field Marshall.

Van & Storage Update – All the lots that Gerald has checked are too small so the van & trailer are still at his house.

RallyCross.  The next event will be November 24th

Road Racing.  The ARRC was at Road Atlanta with Will Perry taking 1st in ITC and Vesa Silegren 2nd.  Great job!

Old Business.  Bill Perry brought to our attention that we didn’t include any nominations for the Activity Director on the Board.  After very brief discussion, Jennifer Dobler was nominated and then agreed to fill the position.

New Business.

The new Board Members are as follows:  Patrick White, Scott Dobler, and Chuck Fullgraf.  Jennifer Dobler is the new Activity Director.

The next meeting / Awards Banquet / Christmas Party has been moved to January 12, 2008 at 6 PM at Fox Cay Restaurant.  The date will stand firm.

Chattanooga Region SCCA Meeting
October 16, 2007

Minutes:  Minutes from September 18, 2007 Chattanooga Region SCCA Meeting were approved.

Treasurer’s Report:  Treasurer’s Report prepared by Gail Perry was approved.

Committee Reports.

Track Trials:  No updates.

Solo.  The night autocross was a great success with 35 entries.  All T-shirts have now been given.  Upcoming events are Dec. 1 – Rudy’s Run at Dade County; Dec. 9 – HoHo / Media Challenge with set up for the Media Challenge on the 8th.  The Solo team will be collecting dollar runs funds for the John Darrow family for the balance of the year.

RallyCross.  Next event is Nov. 24.

Road Racing.  Will Perry, Chuck Fullgraf, and Anthony Henderson all competed in the SIC with Will taking 1st, Chuck taking 3rd, and Anthony taking 1st in points!  Yea!!

The ARRC will be the next event with Vesa Siligren and Will Perry attending.  Awards in Jekyll will be attended by Anthony, Chuck, and Will.

Old Business.  Nothing on the PA system yet.  Shirts and stickers – design is good.

New Business.

Nominations for the Board Members are due November 13.  Jennifer Dobler will send out email nominations for an email ballot for members only.  All current officers will stay the same; but nominations will be open for Board Members.  Names were offered as follows:

Nominations also need to be made for Worker, Rookie and Member of the Year.

Parades:  Christmas Parade at Hamilton Place is Nov. 8th with lineup at 5:30 and the parade itself from 6 – 7 PM.  The Ooltewah Parade is on Dec. 2nd with the lineup at 1:30 and the parade beginning at 3 PM.

Our Christmas Party at Fox Cay has been changed to January 26 due to the conflict with the Awards Banquet in Jekyll Island on the 19th

Street Survival for Teens.  The BMW Club wants our Region to co-host an all-day “Street Survival for Teens” event to be held at the Hamilton County Sheriff’s lot off of Boy Scout Road on December 15th.    They (BMW Club) have no equipment or instructors which is where our club would fit in.  The entry fee for teens is $60 capping out at 30 kids.  We would need to have 12 -1 5 instructors while the BMW Club has 3 who will participate.  Needs are the van/trailer and staffing for the event.  After discussion, Scott Dobler moved that our Region support the event in any way possible.  Patrick White and Jennifer Dobler seconded.

Next meeting will be November 20, 2007 at Komatsu with video footage at 6:30 and meeting at 7:00 PM.

Minutes
September 18, 2007

Present:            11 attendees.

BUSINESS:

  • August Minutes were accepted. 
  • Treasurer’s Report.  August Treasurer’s Report was presented by Gerald Street, after receiving from Gail Perry who was not present.  Scott Dobler moved to accept, Ruthie Thompson seconded, motion passed.

 Track Trials

  • There is not a date certain for 2008 yet as the calendar is not firm until later in the year but we are penciled in
  • .There will be a Nashville SuperSpeedway Double SARRC night Enduro in June. 
  • The Labor Day event will be at Barber next year as opposed to another Nashville event.

Solo:

  • The event went well with 36 entries and 6 runs each.
  • Next event is a twilight event on Oct. 13 at Dade County.
  • There will be a Media Challenge on the Dec. 9th event at Chattanooga State.  Scott will be talking to individuals from Southern Power Sports’ Anthony Sims, Jr., their Marketing Director.
  • Van & Trailer Storage – After discussion, Gerald Street made a motion to have the van stored at public storage for 3 months.  Dave Hester seconded and the motion carried. 
  • Discussion from above included most members feeling it might be the most cost-effective thing to have the Dobler’s culvert paved to store the equipment on their property, but temporarily, the van & trailer needed to be moved from Gerald’s property due to some dead tree concerns.

RallyCross:

  • The next event is November 24th and this event is in SportsCar magazine.  The information is also included in the flyer from the Solo event.

Road Racing:

  • The SIC at Roebling is the next event with Will Perry, Chuck Fullgraf and Anthony Henderson competing.

OLD BUSINESS:

  • Amp for PA System:  Scott will talk to Brent and Casey regarding what we need and where to get it.
  • Shirts & Stickers:  Scott has not finished.

NEW BUSINESS:

  • Nominations for Board Members are due in October.  Nominations will be taken at October’s Club Meeting.
  • Elections will be held at November’s Meeting.
  • Richard White has offered to be on the Board.
  • Awards will need to be voted on by November.
  • The Doblers advised that Parades in town are starting and asked for participation from members.  Thursday, Nov. 8 at Hamilton Place in the evening and Sunday, Dec. 2 at 3 PM is Ooltewah’s Parade.

Next Meeting at Terra Nostra on October 16.  6:30 pm for video, 7 pm for meeting.

Chattanooga Region SCCA Meeting
August 14, 2007


Minutes
:  Minutes from July 10, 2007 Chattanooga Region SCCA Meeting were approved.

Treasurer’s Report:  Treasurer’s Report prepared by Gail Perry was approved.

Committee Reports.

Track Trials:  Nothing firm for Nashville, but penciled in.

Solo.  Noah will be our new course designer after the current designed fired himself.  The last two events were great with July’s evening event having 39 attending and the August event attendance being 27.  Lots of fun with the Hawaiian theme – pictures should be interesting.

RallyCross.  The next event will be November 24th.  Decisions to stock the trailer with old EZ-ups, cones, etc. and discussion regarding replacing radios.

Road Racing.  Vesa Silegren ran the IT Festival and took a solid 17 second lead 1st!  YEA VESA!

Practice Day in Nashville still needs a few workers.  Bill Perry advised he needed help in hauling scales, EZ-ups, etc. to Nashville.  Jennifer Dobler and Art & Ruthie Henderson will be helping.  Bill will be making ramps for the scales.  Anthony Henderson will be donating his number board for the event for black-flagging.  As of the meeting, we have 22 entries.

Old Business

Fall Getaway.  Anthony did some research on the Tail of the Dragon, and after discussion, it was decided we’ll have the getaway the weekend of Oct. 20-21.  We will be asking Carl Blevins to post the information on the website so whoever wants to join in can do so.  It was suggested reservations be made early as that will be good leaf viewing time so rooms will fill up fast..

New Business.

Scott Dobler advised the amp for our PA system will not drive both speakers.  Gerald Street will try and have some wiring done through Komatsu.

July 10, 2007

Present:            14 members

BUSINESS:

Minutes:  Minutes from June 5, 2007 were approved.

Treasurer’s Report:  Gail presented the Treasurer’s Report for June with retained earnings showing at $4,501 after paying the final Time Trials costs.

Track Trials:  A meeting of the Practice Day Committee was held prior to the Region’s monthly meeting.  Everything is on schedule.  Dates for next year’s Time Trials were discussed and agreed to be at the same time – the 3rd weekend in May. 

Solo:  Next event is July 21st at Dade County High School with a Solo School preceding the event.  Gerald Street will be contacting the school reps and discussing lights and concessions for the event.  There will be a Solo Staff meeting on July 20th at Patrick White’s house with the Region purchasing barbeque for 10 for the meeting.

The club is purchasing two more pop-ups for the region.

RallyCross:  The next event is a divisional on July 14th.

Road Racing:  Barber was a great event with Anthony Henderson taking 1st in FV, Will Perry taking 1st and Chuck Fullgraf in 3rd in ITC.  Next event will be at Road Atlanta on July 21 and 22.

Old Business:  Speakers were purchased for the van at the meeting thanks to Brent Lawson.

New Business:  Scott Dobler brought a number of designs he created for t-shirts which were reviewed by members present.  Excellent job with two designs preferred most.  Discussion held and Scott will proceed with finalizing the design for t-shirts and decals.  Costs would be $7-$10 for 144 (gross) for t-shirts and $4-$4.50 for 250 for decals.

Anthony Henderson discussed a possible club social/event riding the Tail of the Dragon.  After discussion, Anthony will look into different date options for a social.

Date and location of next meeting:  August 14, 2007 at Komatsu – 6:30 PM – event footage and 7:00 PM, Meeting.

Chattanooga Region SCCA Meeting
June 5, 2007

Minutes:  Upon discussion, David McDaniel moved and Scott Dobler seconded to approve Minutes from the May 8, 2007 meeting.  Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report:  .  Treasurer’s Report prepared by Gail Perry was approved..

Committee Reports.

Track Trials:  David McDaniel stated our region made a profit of $250.  In discussion of the event, David noted that the postcard marketing was a great idea and felt we had more entries from the mailing. 

Next event will be a CCR event in Banner Elk on August 18-19.  David will be asking Carl Blevins to put a link on the website.

Solo.  Next event at Chattanooga State will be on June 24th.  Scott Dobler stated the Fire & Ice Challenge will include non-SCCA clubs and will consist of three events, July 21st (Fire), and Dec. 1, and 8 (Ice).  The July 21st event will be a night autocross at Dade County.  Scott mentioned checking on Ebay to buy glow-in-the-dark bracelets for workers.

The Solo PA System speaker is dead.  David McDaniel made a motion that Scott Dobler research cost of the speaker, and email the Board Members the information at which time the Board will make an email vote to purchase.  Dave Hester seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

RallyCross.  The May 26th event was cancelled.  .

Road Racing.  Vesa Silegren ran at mid-Ohio taking a solid 1st.  Anthony Henderson ran a double at CCR on Memorial Day Weekend and took pole / 1st on Saturday and 1st on Sunday!

Old Business.  Transmission on the van – Gerald Street has a Board vote of approval to do what needs to be done on the van.

New Business.

Art Thompson asked about bumper stickers with a new design logo.  Scott will create/ and check on costs for bumper stickers, business cards and T-shirts.

We need to ask Carl Blevins to put a link on our website to join the SCCA.

Next meeting will be July 10th, 6:30 PM at Sir Gooney’s on Brainerd Road.

Chattanooga Region SCCA Meeting
May 8, 2007

 Minutes:  Minutes from April 7th were approved as presented.

Treasurer’s Report:  .  Gail Perry presented the Treasurer’s Report with Solo II and Time Trials deposits giving us a healthy balance.

Committee Reports.

Track Trials:  Everything on track for the event, 42 + 3 new entries so far, calculating $6 per lunch for workers giving them a choice of hot dogs, hamburgers or chicken patty, new schedule is up on the web page, $275 in worker donations so far, and T-shirts on order.

Solo.  2 events – Chattanooga State and Dade County; Pro Class up and running; CS event had 42 entries.  The Doblers’ have come up with a Fire & Ice Challenge over three events.  Need speakers for the PA system!

RallyCross.  The next event is May 26th.  Gerald will contact David Brooks for any updates.

Road Racing.  April 28-29 Roebling Road Double SARRC had great results.  Will Perry and Chuck Fullgraf qualified 1-2 on Saturday and finished 1-2 in the race!  For Sunday, they again qualified 1-2, with Will taking 1st and Chuck a hard fought 3rd.  Congratulations!!!

Anthony Henderson will be going to CMP the end of May and most everyone will be at Barber in July.

Old Business.  The van needs muffler work and general maintenance.  Gerald will check into getting the work done.

New Business.  None.

Next meeting will be June 5thh, 7 PM at Terra Nostras.  Gerald Street won’t be there so our Assisstant RE, Dave Hester will be in charge.

Chattanooga Region SCCA Meeting

April 3, 2007

Minutes:  Upon discussion, Bill Perry moved and David McDaniel seconded to approve Minutes from the March 2007 meeting.  Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report:  .  Gail Perry presented the Treasurer’s Report.  Art Thompson moved and Scott Dobler seconded to approve the report.  Motion carried.

Committee Reports.

Track Trials:  Wendi McCormick from Nationals will be attending our TT which means we need more workers to cover waiver checkpoints at the track.  We anticipate needing at least two workers for these positions.  It seems Jamie Perry is doing her usual great job and has the necessary workers for the event and should have no trouble getting those needed for the new positions.  David McDaniel is revamping the schedule for the event.

Solo.  The Dade County event was a success with 35-40 entries.  Scott Dobler said the Solo staff is great.  The next event is scheduled for April 21st and maybe a Chattanooga State event on the 22nd.  There were problems with the computer, but Scott will work on this prior to the next event.

RallyCross.  The March 17th event had 15 entries and went well.  The next RallyCross will be May 26 with the Nationals in Nashville which already has 20 plus entries.

Road Racing.  Art Thompson went to CMP to crew for Anthony Henderson.  Great report on the forum. Michael Hartberger and John Leigh from our Region also attended.

Anthony’s motor went on Saturday and he DNF’d on Sunday;

Michael’s alternator went on Saturday and he placed 3rd out of 26 on Sunday;

John took 2nd out of 4 on Saturday and didn’t compete on Sunday.

The next event will be Roebling with Art Thompson & Ruthie Cartlidge, Dave Hester, Chuck Fullgraf, Vesa & Theresa Silegren and Will & Jamie Perry planning to attend.

Old Business.  Equipment purchases update:   Timing light has been purchased.

Solo needs a speaker and a retest of the headsets to make sure they are working properly – Scott Dobler will check on these.

New Business.

Car Show on May 12th at Brainerd Crossroads.  Gerald Street has info.

Bugapalooza will be at Camp Jordan on Apr. 21 and 22nd.

Car show at Chattanooga State on April 21st.

A Committee has been volunteered for the Labor Day Test Day at Nashville to include:  Bill Perry, Linda Hester, David McDaniel and Chuck Fullgraf.

Next meeting will be May 8th, 7 PM at Komatsu.

MINUTES
Chattanooga Region SCCA Meeting

March 6, 2007

Minutes:  Upon discussion, Minutes from February 17th  were approved.

Treasurer’s Report:  Gail Perry presented the Treasurer’s Report.  Good news, the club was able to pay back Art Thompson.  It was noted that the Time Trials deposit was due April 19.

Committee Reports.

Track Trials:  David McDaniel presented a short report – everything is proceeding for the May Track Trials.  Jamie has almost all positions filled, and postcards were going to be mailed out on March 7th.  The event is in Sports Car, and the website should be up and running with online entry beginning soon.  After discussion, Bill Perry moved that we order 100 long-sleeve T-Shirts for workers at $3.95.  Gerald Street seconded, motion carried.

Solo.  Dade County has been approved for March 31st.  Four Solo rulebooks are at the trailer, Gerald Street provided at 15” monitor for the laptop, Dave Hester provided 2 fire extinguishers, Scott Dobler will be asking Steve Tompkins for the digital display; Gerald will make ‘corner boxes’ which will hold flags, extinguishers, etc., for four corners; and we are still waiting on a final okay from Chattanooga State for an April event.

RallyCross.  David Brooks stated the SEDIV website has a signup page for every region and online registration for RallyCross.  Scott Dobler moved and David Brooks seconded that Bill Perry find out what is wrong with the trailer.  David and Gerald will provide Sports Car people with everything necessary.  April 1 will be a national event in Nashville.  Gail Perry will work registration.

Road Racing.  Art Thompson was out sick, but Ruthie Cartlidge said they would be at Barber – racing bicycles  on April 7th.

Old Business.  Equipment purchase update:

Timing light – we haven’t heard on the replacement light yet – Scott Dobler will check;
Radios – Chuck is following up with details
Fire Extinguishers – provided by Dave Hester 

New Business.  Test Day – August 31.  We need 16 workers – Linda Hester will be asking Jamie Perry if she will do the honors of rounding up the workers.  Bill Perry will contact Nashville regarding okaying the contract and advise when it is receiving for signing.

Next meeting will be April 3rd, 7 PM at Terra Nostras.

MINUTES
Chattanooga Region SCCA Meeting
February 17, 2007

Minutes:  Upon discussion, Minutes from the November meeting were approved.

Treasurer’s Report:  Reports were presented and approved from January and February 2007.  The Region has changed banks from AmSouth to SunTrust. 

Committee Reports.

Track Trials:  Bill Perry updated the club as follows:  The contracts are in and due February 28 with a deposit of $1,000 track rental required.  RFR Race Parts will sponsor providing $20 gift certificates for workers.  Website is up to date, with a entrant cut-off date and $20 late fee to be applied.  We need more workers.  Discussion on T-shirts, etc. for workers.

Solo.  Dade County High School Solo event has been approved for Mar. 31.  Scott Dobler presented a Equipment List & Updates document for the club to review.  Discussion was had regarding the purchase of items listed:  one or two 600’ foot cable for the timing lights ($340/ea); one or more timing lights ($188/ea); replacing FRS radios with at least six radios ($50-80/pair); two or three headsets ($90-?/ea); upgrading PA system speakers and microphone; two Solo Rule Books; signage; and fire extinguishers.

After much discussion, it was decided:

  • Motion was made by Gail Perry, seconded by David Brooks, to purchase two timing lights.  Motion approved;
  • Chuck Fullgraf would research radio purchase and provide data by the next meeting;
  • Gail Perry would provide four Solo Rule Books;
  • David Hester said he had access to fire extinguishers for $10, and would try to purchase at least two.
  • The remaining items are on hold for the time being.

Scott included the proposed Solo dates for the year in his handout.

RallyCross.  David Brooks said there is a new RallyCross website:  sedivrallycross.com.  The first Chattanooga event will be March 17.  There is a TN Valley Regional Ironman Competition on June 30-31

Road Racing.  Art Thompson said the first event of the season was Mar. 10-11 at Rockingham; followed by Mar. 31 at Kershaw.  Efren Ormaza is running National and was at Kershaw this weekend.

Old Business.  Gerald Street needs the 2005 tax return along with the latest tax incorporation papers to file the 2006 return. 

New Business.  The updating of Axware system, and equipment improvements from the agenda were covered above. 

  • David McDaniel asked whether SEDIV reimburses for expenses relating to attending of annual meeting.  SEDIV will reimburse small regions one-half of expenses.  Expenses get turned in to Kay for reimbursement.
  • Motion was made by Art Thompson, seconded by Dave Hester that Bill Perry explore the possibility of Chattanooga Region hosting a Labor Day Weekend Test Day in Nashville.  Motion approved.  Bill would provide info via email to the board for quick response.
  • Bill Perry moved, David McDaniel seconded, that the club ask Nashville if we could rent the Hospitality Suite on May 19 for Art Thompson and Ruthie Cartlidge’s wedding.  Motion carried. 

Next meeting will be March 6th, 7 PM at Komatsu.
