VIR Road Race

May 7-9, 2004 -- SARRC/SARRC

A total of 418 cars showed up for the weekend event. I rented and raced with my instructor from Roebling Road. His car was much better prepared than the last rental and had a great deal more power. I qualified for Sunday's race in 25th (not sure exactly, since I can't find my sheet) place out of 65 cars. The delta could have been the power of the new rental. I raced on Sunday and at the start, I quickly cleared 6 autos by shooting up the inside. I continued to pass additional cars, eventually making it to about 12th, but then I pushed it too hard at Oak Tree and spun the car. After regrouping, I proceeded down Roller Coaster and Hogpen onto the front straight away. Took turn #1 and #2 while passing another competitor, but pulled a bone-head rookie move right after #3 and spun out...cut a tire and D-N-F.

Ran into our friend "Barbie" from the driver's school. She is still trying to get the "X" off the car...pink suit still looks nice!! Great weekend and the weather cooperated. Off to Lowes in June.
