Chattanooga Region had more racers at Barber for this event than any race in recent memory. They were: Rusty White, SPO RX7 Turbo Mazda, which finished it's first race ever I think. Micheal Hartberger, in borrowed Spec Miata Handly Templeton, in the HR7260 Formula Ford that his Father built. His return after a few years off. Art Thompson, in his new Spec Miata Ken Walker in the G Prod Honda CRX Anthony Henderson, in the Formula V that he flat towed with the VW Van. (shades of the 60's) Vesa Silegren in the ITC Honda Civic Will Perry in the ITC Honda Civic Also John Leigh of Hixson was there with his SPU, but he is a member of the Atlanta Region. Notable performances were Will and Vesa finishing one-two in both SARRC races. The Saturday race was really close with their cars making contact in a three-wide final corner. They ran each other so hard here that they outran all the ITB cars. Over 60 cars started each of their races so getting three wide was bound to happen a few times. |

Full results are on the Alabama Region web site. Our workers included Dave and Linda Hester and Payton Carter working corners, Jamie Hamilton and Gail Perry put in time at Registration, and I worked Timing and Scoring Saturday, and for the Operating Steward on Sunday. I spent a good deal of my time tracking down drivers who had committed some infraction. Our region provided a satisfying number of competitors for this event in a neighboring region. But I certainly wish we had provided more workers. -- Bill Perry |
