Chattanooga
Auto Auction Ninety two competitors came to the Chattanooga Auto Auction for the third and final BFGoodrich Team T/A Southeast Divisional Solo II on August 9 and 10. The weather was cool with little rain for the White group both days. Drew, Cheryl and Steve's child, could not understand why the big kids didnt like the rain. He was having a ball. The rest of us was thankful for the below average temperature.
The
Chattanooga Auto Auction is a great facility for Solo II. There
is an on-sight restaurant with good food, covered areas for the
people, and a large lot with great pavement. Brian Flanagan used
the space to create two quick courses that left room for the
drivers to decide how to drive them. Sundays finish was a
bit quick for some of the drivers. They picked up pylons after
the timing lights. We couldnt ask for a better sight for a
Divisional.
The pool party was moved inside since the last group thought they had spent enough time in water for one day. There was plenty of bench racing to go with the burgers. Racers are almost as bad as fishermen when it comes to telling about their past adventures. The Mountain View Nissan Quest came in handy to get more burgers for the huge crowd at the party. There was also a cake provided by Rivergate Racing with Saturdays course on it. It was a big cake to match the course.
The event went great. There were no major problems in "Time Out" (the name somehow given to impound this weekend). Everyone seemed pleased with the facilities and course. A large number of people went home with really nice trophies. And everyone got an early start home. I hope everyone remembers to send in their evaluation card.

There are a few people and companies that need mentioning. BFGoodrich Team T/A and SF Motorsports for sponsoring the Southeast Divisional Solo II Series. Most of the cars were wearing Comp T/A R1s. It a bit harder to tell about SF Motorsports products--shocks, brake pads, exhausts, etc. Mark Chiles and Brenda Ashburn did a great job administering the series. Cheryl Tompkins put together an awesome event for Chattanoogas divisional with the help of several key members (I wont try to list them because I am sure I would leave someone out). Elite Motorcars (Brian Flanagans business) helped with the event T-shirts. Gerald Street and Komatsu helped with organization and radios. Rivergate Racing (the Perrys) provided satellite TV during the event, radios, canopies, etc. Mountain View Nissan provided a Quest for errands and timing sheet pickup. T.S. Micro sent ink pins and this home page is created on one of their computers. A big "THANKS" to the above and those that I missed.
This weekend counted as the last Solo II divisional in the Southeast. It also counted as two races for the ABC Inter-Regional Series. Saturdays best time was added to Sundays best time for the Divisional. Each day counted separately for the ABC inter-regional. The ABC Inter-Regional Series is just getting started. There will be two races in one weekend in Atlanta and a single race at the Talladega Grand Prix late this fall.
