Last year’s ABC Inter-Regional Solo II series has been renamed the GTA Autocross Series. The name change comes with the addition of the Middle Georgia Region (Macon) to the series. GTA stands for Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama, the states in which the series runs. Atlanta, Alabama (Birmingham), Chattanooga, and Middle Georgia (Macon) Regions will each host two events.

ProbeThe GTA Autocross Series is purely for fun. There are no trophies, prize money or contingencies. There will be two events in each region that will count toward the championship. Points will be scored for all regular SCCA classes including the ladies classes. There will be no "bumping" of classes. There are no minimum number of events needed to score points for the series. Competitors will accumulate points for "bragging rights" in their class. All competitors will be scored without regard to region membership. Even nonmembers will accumulate championship points.

The reason for the GTA Autocross Series is to encourage drivers to travel to and have fun with drivers of other regions. Therefore, bonus points are added to encourage attendance at GTA Autocross Series events. Competitors who enters all eight events will score a total of 28 bonus points.

KWIK KOOL Tee Shirt

KWIK KOOL Tee Shirt will provide 10 of their personal cooling system shirts as prizes for the series. The prizes will be awarded at the last event of the series, October 25 at Warner Robins, Georgia.

The KWIK KOOL Tee Shirt allows a person to keep cool in the hottest of environments, according to Shafer Enterprise's Rich Shafer. Just a few quick bursts of, ozone-safe, freon directly into the tubing, sewn into the shirt, brings a rush of refreshing cool. Each shirt with a can of freon is a $199.00 value. However, the introductory price is $179.00.

Competitors can win a KWIK KOOL Tee Shirt one of two ways:

  1. One will be awarded to the entrant with the most bonus points from each of the following categories Stock, Street Prepared, Prepared, Modified and all Ladies classes. Accumulated class points will break ties. If a tie still exists it will be broken by the largest number of entries, for the season, in their class.
  2. Five will be given away in a drawing. Chances of winning improve the more events entered because an entrant's name goes in the pot, again, for each event entry.
