  1. Waivers: Every person inside the Nashville Superspeedway facility must sign the waiver and wear the armband for the full weekend. Check with the Registrar for Minor Waivers. Special armbands will be issued to persons who are not SCCA members and they will not be allowed in any “hot” area.

  2. Eligibility: Holders of current SCCA National or Regional Competition Licenses, SCCA Track Trials Licenses, Solo I Licenses, Track Trials Novice Licenses, and / or an SCCA Novice Competition License are eligible to compete. Please call ahead to assure your eligibility if another competition license is involved. Make sure your license is up-to-date!

  3. Vehicle Identification: As per the SCCA Track Trials rules – check the Time Trials rulebook & GCR. Make sure the correct class & number is clearly legible on your vehicle. SE Div Track Trials  reserved numbers will be held (until approx. 15 days before the event) for those who have reserved these numbers (a $10.00 fee has been collected by SE Div to reserve a number for the 2007 Track Trials season). All other numbers will be issued on a first come first serve basis.  All competitors running for SEDIV points at this event are required to run “Cool Shirt” stickers on both sides of their vehicle as they are the series sponsor.

  4. A single car may be entered with up to three drivers, but this may result in reduced practice time for the drivers. Car numbers and transponders must be changed at each driver change. This change is the responsibility of the drivers. A separate transponder must be used by each driver. Rental transponders are arranged to be changed out quickly and are powered by internal batteries.

  5. Legal Vehicles: This event is open to all competition vehicles conforming to the current SCCA Time Trials rules and the SCCA General Competition Rules. Any questions concerning the legality of vehicles should be addressed weeks before traveling to this event. It is the responsibility of each competitor to have a safe & legal vehicle. To answer SCCA safety & legality questions, see an SCCA technical inspector from your region. Vehicles involved in off-course excursions may be re-inspected for safety & legality.

  6. Novice Training: A Novice Indoctrination session will be held beginning at 8 AM May 17, in the main meeting room in the Press/Media Center of Nashville Superspeedway. Attendance is mandatory for all drivers with a Novice License. The Chief Novice Instructor will be Will Perry.

At approximately 8:20 AM novices will be paced around the track. Be sure you have a car ready to go immediately after the Indoctrination. A street car, tow vehicle or your competition car may be used and helmet and suit are optional as speeds will be low. Frequent stops will be incorporated to discuss critical points on the track. Drivers may share rides for this on track training.

Driver Observers will be observing the Novice Drivers throughout the event and drivers will be given benefit of their observations.

  1. Track Trials Novice Licenses and Track Trials Competition Licenses may be issued at Registration with prior Arrangements. Note requirements in Time Trials Rules, section 5, and particularly 5.4 Medical Requirements. Charge for Track Trials Novice Logbook is $35.00. The Track Trials Competition License is $35.00.

  2. SE Div Track Trials Points: This is one of several SE Division sanctioned Track Trials points events. If you are not participating in the Cool Shirt SE Div Track Trials Points Championship, please waive your points, so not to alter the year-long SE Div Class Championships.

  3. Drivers Meeting: A drivers meeting will be held at 8:45 AM in the main meeting room of the Press/Media Center of the Nashville Superspeedway (at base of the scoring tower). Attendance is mandatory so roll will be taken. Drivers missing the meeting must have specific approval of the Chief Steward before going on the track. Be prepared to go on track soon after this meeting.

  4. Passing: During the 15 Minute practice sessions and practice/qualifying Saturday morning, passing will be allowed as prescribed. Passing zones will be clearly marked on the front and back straights. Passes must be fully complete while within this designated zone. All passes shall be executed to the left of the passed car. A pass may not be initiated unless the driver being passed indicates that a pass may be made by two actions:

* Clear hand signal to pass (a point to the left)
* Pull to the right of the racing line to allow the pass

Absent either of these actions, a pass may not be initiated. “Blue Flags”, indicating you are being  followed or approached by a potentially faster car may be displayed at Corner 2, at Corner 4 which precedes the Passing Zones, and at Start/Finish.   Once the pass is initiated, both drivers are responsible for a safe pass.

  1. Black Flag: Black Flags will be issued for passes made not in accordance with Item #11 or other violations or unsafe activities. They may be displayed at corner #3 or at Start/Finish. They will be displayed with the car number. The car being Black Flagged must report immediately to the official on Pit Road.

  2. Running Order: Similar cars will be grouped together in order to maximize the amount of track time for each competitor. Times set in the Practice/Qualifying Sessions will be used as a guide to starting order within groups. Again, all passing is strictly forbidden in all SE Div Track Trials official timed runs. Only cars well off course & stopped may be passed.
  3. Timed runs are expected to consist of a full lap warm-up, receiving the Green Flag at completion of this lap, then two timed laps, followed by a Checker Flag. Then a full lap cool down with return to Pit Lane. At the end of run groups you will be directed to the Paddock at the first Pit turn-in.

  4. Re-Runs: If you catch a slower vehicle or come up on a car that is having trouble, raise your hand so a corner worker can see – Slow Down – Return to the pits for a re-run of the laps you missed. It is the responsibility of each competitor to return to the pits for a re-run. Failure to follow this re-run procedure could cause you to loose competition laps and wastes track time for everyone.

  5. Rules of the Pits & Paddock: Garage spaces will be available on a first come first served basis for the weekend.. Others will be paddocked in paved spaces. Vehicles may be left in the garages or paddock overnight on Saturday. Each competitor is responsible for the conduct of their crew & guests. The established rules of the track, pits, and paddock must be followed. All pets should be on a leash, and under adult supervision at all times. Please be respectful of your fellow competitors. Please remember to thank the hosting region, workers, and officials for hosting this event!!!

  6. Track Time: The officials of this event will try to maximize the amount of time every competitor gets. You can help. Be prepared to exit the pits when directed to do so. Please have all safety equipment & video cameras on & ready to go in the pits!!! Quickly and safely, enter & exit the track during warm-up & cool down laps. Play safely so everyone will get lots of track time. Take time to inspect your vehicle after each session! Obey all the flags! Listen to the Public Address announcements.

  7. The AMB electronic timing system will be used for this event. All laps will be timed including combined practice sessions. Competitors without an AMB transponder must rent one for the weekend for a fee of $40.00. Each vehicle renting a transponder will be furnished with a special bracket into which the transponder may be quickly attached. Competitors will be allowed to keep this bracket so their vehicles will be ready for future events using transponders. Rental will require a deposit check of $375.00 to be left with registration to assure return of the transponder at the end of the event. Fifty five rental transponders are available, so registration will be limited to 55 entries plus those competitors already having an AMB transponder. Rental and returns of transponders will be handled at Registration, in the Media center. Each competitor will be furnished a printout listing all their lap times, upon request.

  8. Mechanical problems: If your car has a mechanical problem while on course, pull to the side of the track as soon as possible. Please avoid dropping any fluids (especially, coolant & oil) on the track. Clean-ups waste track time.

  9. Protest: SE Div Track Trials events rarely have a protest. Competitors are strongly encouraged to resolve any & all potential protests by themselves - without the event’s officials. There are enough Track Trials classes (almost 50) – if your vehicle is not legal for one specific class – please, go to another class!!! Do not participate illegally. Track Trials competitors can take pride in the fact that they rarely have a protest!

  10. Fuel: Fuel will be available at the track fuel station at 8:30 AM and during the lunch break each day. Credit cards are accepted. Fuel available includes 87 & 93 Octane Unleaded and 112 Octane Leaded.

  11. Competitors and officials may remain in the Paddock area overnight on Friday & Saturday nights, after notifying the Registrar of their intention to do so.

  12. Property Damage: SCCA Chattanooga Region may hold drivers responsible for damages to property. Drivers continually cutting apexes in the grass may be held responsible for repairs and may be penalized.

  13. This is SCCA’s fourth Track Trials event at Nashville Superspeedway. Help us keep the facility in the same great condition as when we came. Nashville Superspeedway Track Trials is planned as a Safe, Fun, Fair event. Please do your part to see that it is for entrants, officials, track personnel and workers.

  14. Results: Results will be posted in the Lobby of the Press/Media facility.

  15. Information on how to find the track, motel listings, and a map of the facility will be published at the Chattanooga Region website: www.rivergate5speed.com
